Overview

A government sponsored programme specially for public in-service personnel to break out of conventional ways of seeing and doing things. The programme gives participants a better understanding of value-based problem solving for sustainable results. Participants learn how to depart from constraint-focused thinking to see opportunities to deliver meaningful solutions for the rakyat and other stakeholders they serve.


Who is it for?
  • Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif (KIK) teams in need of inspiration and actionable strategies.
  • Department heads looking to transition to outcome-based KPI valuation.
  • Officers who are looking for a fresh and creative approach to their work.

Eligibility

  • Degree holding public service personnel.
  • Diploma holders with proof of 10 years working experience and having either:
    • An overall rating of 5 and above in the government appraisal system.
    • Written recommendation by Head of Department.

Programme Structure

Days 1-3:

  • Learning the foundations of Design Thinking through a project challenge

Days 4-5:

  • Guided application of Design Thinking in a work-related project
What will you get?
  • A new way to restructure the way you approach problems and challenges.
  • Tools and techniques to help you confidently analyse, dig deeper into the root of the problem, and develop creative solutions.
  • An experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and flexible environments as well as going through activities that help break silo-thinking culture and hierarchies.
  • A certificate bearing the national emblem with recognition from HPI D-School, and declares graduates as Innovation Ambassadors.

The focus of this programme is on strengthening confidence in navigating the process and making collaborative mindsets and behaviours part of muscle memory. The programme gears participants toward an appreciation for user-centric solutions and sets them up to recognise opportunities to employ design principles in projects or work related challenges.

  • Officers who are looking for a fresh and creative approach to their work.
  • Officers who have fewer than 5 years of work experience.
